Havelock – Redefining Peace

I had the best vacation of my life!

A week in Andaman and Nicobar Island is definitely worth it. You must be wondering – What Islands? Yeah, they are not the most popular place in the world – but maybe that’s the best part. It is that one small part of India which gives it another reason to be proud of its diversity. The islands, leading a life of their own, are mysterious and beautiful. But the best part of my trip have not been the main city of Port Blair, rather the superbly located Havelock Island.

Havelock is one small island where the Government has been encouraging eco-tourism for quite some time. So we said…..let’s go for it. And, gosh, it was a dream coming true.

From the beautiful wooden cottage in front of a lusciously green garden, to the most stunning and clear water beaches ever seen and topped with that continuous drizzle of rain – there was nothing to not Love.

Living in such peace, away from the daily hustle of city life and continuous ringing of mobiles is what makes Havelock the perfect getaway.

What all can you do there…..swim in beautiful blue waters, look at some of the most amazing corals in the world (they seriously are!), walk on one of the most beautiful beaches Radhanagar in Asia (Time Magazine), go on a motorboat ride around the numerous islands and look at some of the dense forests, take a ride on the jetski (it is awesome) or just sit on the branch of a fallen tree and let the cool waves tickle your feets.

If the water is getting too much…….wait for it……rent a cycle at real cheap rates (Rs. 20 for an hr) and take a ride across the islands and its numerous beaches, resorts, villages and green fields. You can stop by a shelter restaurant and have the authentic fish, or get off for a trek across one of the hills, or just enjoy the fresh air and cool breeze.

Its is not a place where you can keep on doing things for days. But it is the place where you can relax and for once get to enjoy the nature in a real way.

P.S. The photos are from google, and hopefully my camera would be fixed soon for more 🙂
